The Development Communications Coordinator is a member of both the Integrated Development Team (IDT) and the Community Engagement Team (CET), allocating time according to current needs to each team. The Development Communications Coordinator supports all written communications aspects of each team’s work. This position includes creative content research and development of case materials, and program management responsibilities for planning and execution of digital communications. The Development Communications Coordinator also has responsibility for quality reviews of and proofreading and editing as necessary for all fundraising materials.

The organization will evaluate this position prior to the end of term which may result in an offer of extension or conversion to permanent status

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

  • What you'll be making $31.76 to $39.01 per hour
    • The above are initial rates; with grid increases as per policy
    • Internal staff members will be placed on the appropriate grid based on their current rate of pay, up to Level 8 of the grid
  • When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period; Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
  • What your benefits will be – 9% in lieu of benefits
  • Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrollment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) 
     

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

  • Develop and maintain variety of materials, from routine correspondence to targeted case summaries that support front-line fundraisers in engaging, cultivating and soliciting donor prospects.
  • Serve as a principal writer and collaborate with members of the team to create written materials, video scripts, presentations, key messages, donor impact stories, briefings and other materials that support fundraising.
  • Create content for a subscriptions program and process for creating content and digital assets that support good stewardship and relationship building
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality experiences for process partners, donors, prospective donors and community partner organizations.
  • Support the team in creating communications content aimed at donor acquisition, relationship cultivation, stewardship reporting, donor recognition, and monthly giving solicitations through digital and direct mail channels.
  • Participate as required in the planning, execution and preparation of material for fundraising events.
  • Attend and support point-of-entry and other fundraising events sponsored or conducted by the organization, as well as community and organization events as appropriate, both during and outside of normal working hours.
  • Provide support to the Development Officer in preparing communications for the Employee Giving Program.
  • Schedule, conduct, and report on an average number of actions per work week that meet criteria and activity-level targets.
  • Attend one designated development team meeting per work week. Participate in brief scheduled huddles with the IDT Process Manager.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.


We require the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (Primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process, i.e. an original degree/diploma/certificate or official transcript; for ongoing education, an unofficial transcript will be accepted)
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to meet job requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
  • Clear, current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)


We prefer the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in providing exceptional customer service.
  • Significant attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Previous experience in healthcare particularly in fund development would be considered an asset
  • Portfolio of writing samples that reflect professional creative or technical writing experience
  • Technology Proficiency: Competence in relevant computer applications particularly Microsoft Office and Outlook; Canva and knowledge of computerized documentation methods.
    • Computer literacy with experience as user in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Raiser's Edge
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills required with demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, interviewing and engagement processes, and meeting new people, as well as in creating and maintaining relationships.
  • Written and Oral Communications: Ability to accurately communicate fundraising messages clearly and effectively to prospects and donors. Ability to create effective and error-free written communications.
