Grounded in London’s housing stability services system, the Street Level Woman at Risk (SLWAR) plan is aimed at supporting housing stability, long term health, wellbeing and belonging for women experiencing homelessness.

 

The model is framed in service collaboration to help provide housing with in home support, and a system of wrap supports that are participant lead and based on the goals each woman has for herself.

 Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 3 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

  • What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $28.46 per hour (Level 1 -Direct Service, Team Lead), with a wage differential based on regulation ($31.29 per hour for Level 1 - Direct Service, Team Lead - Regulated)
    • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($35.61 per hour for non-regulated, and $38.43 per hour for regulated)
    • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period; Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30pm
  • What your benefits will be - 9% in lieu of benefits
  • Your pension plan – Eligible for immediate enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

  • Coordinating, supporting and working alongside a team comprised of Housing Stability Workers and a Housing Finder
  • Responding to identified areas of concern and coordinating resources accordingly
  • Monitoring fidelity of intensive case management practice to Model and Guiding Principles
  • Monitoring electronic and written record-keeping activities, e.g. databases, on-call logs, incident reports, progress notes and participant files
  • Providing responsibility for the data collected and participating in the analysis and report writing under direction of the program Director and Manager  
  • Acting as a frontline staff when needed to support maintaining service intensity 
  • Accompanying participants to appointments, and meeting with participants in their homes as needed
  • Supporting the Program Manager with the implementation and facilitation of intake and SLWAR teleconferences as assigned
  • Responding through a harm reduction approach
  • Working cooperatively with the Street Level Women at Risk collaborative agencies and other supports involved with the participants ongoing care
  • Brokering and advocating with other system elements, accompanying clients to appointments, providing proactive crisis planning, organizing meaningful daily activity opportunities and liaising with Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program
  • Alerting the SLWAR Program Manager or designate of information that could affect the safety and well-being of street involved individuals

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

We require the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study e.g. social services, social work, or a related discipline (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with participants who live with multiple challenges related to marginalization, mental illness, substance use, complex health challenges, street level sex work, poverty, homelessness, and trauma
  • Valid Driver’s Licence, adequate insurance to allow transportation of participants and access to a vehicle to carry out job duties
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

We prefer the following qualifications:

  • 3 years’ experience working in addictions, mental health, women’s issues, violence against women, and/or homeless prevention preferred
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Training and experience using Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (SPDAT) and the Homeless Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS)
  • Valid certification in ASIST and Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention preferred
  • Thorough understanding of harm reduction theory and demonstrated ability to implement harm reduction strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources, service & support programs, and barriers participants face in accessing same
  • Working knowledge of a variety of treatment, intervention, and support strategies
  • Experience with ongoing evaluation of complex case management or treatment plans, engaging with the participant and other resources in adjusting the plan, as appropriate
  • Experience working from a trauma-informed, relational approach
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to assess level of risk in regards to clients    
  • Proven experience/skill in training development and facilitation
  • Experience in the provision of supervision and training of staff 
  • Bilingual both official languages, preferred; préférence sera accordée aux candidats qui sont compétents dans les deux langues officielles du Canada
