 WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

  • What you'll be making - $17.20 per hour
     
  • When you'll work - This position is 35 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks. Must be available to work shifts between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm. Schedule will be predominately Monday to Friday, but some after-hours, weekend or public holiday shifts may be required 
  • Your pension plan - Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)


HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

  • Coordinate social recreational activities as directed by staff
  • Coach, support and encourage participation by persons with serious mental illness in social and recreational activities and the maintenance of the Exeter Site facility
  • Work with and supervise individuals in the preparation of meals at the Exeter Site facility
  • Assist and supervise with daily living skills as needed in the houses
  • Support individuals with vocational experiences at Exeter Site
  • Identify, assess, respond to and as necessary, report to identified supervisory staff, any emergency situations concerning person(s) or property as per Exeter Site procedures
  • Complete all assigned documentation

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:


Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. For candidates who require a request letter in order to apply for a police check, request letters will be provided for candidates that move forward from the interview stage of the recruitment process.


We require the following qualifications:

  • Canada Summer Jobs requirements:
    • Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
    • Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and am legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
    • (Note: International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.)
  • Post-secondary education completed or in progress within social services, mental health and/or addictions
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Valid Driver’s License and Access to a vehicle
  • Insurance adequate for transporting clients
  • Ability to attend work regularly

We prefer the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of addictions/mental health and recovery
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of computerized documentation methods
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Ability to recognize and guide potential conflict situations
